Default Are assassin heroes worth it?

I've been lurking this section looking for interesting builds to use, and I have yet to see one for an assassin hero.

Assassin is my favorite class. One thing that led me to guild wars was the use of assassins. My main however is a warrior (not sure why, just decided to try warrior and went with it) and I'd like to try something with assassin heros.

Anyone know any builds?

Crit barrage or scythe, otherwise nope.

Honestly, if you yourself are a melee, and you use a strength of honor monk for yourself, you might as well have one other melee in your group to share in the ownage of strengh of honor. I personally never use a sin hero, I usually always bring a melee henchmen though for this very reason. If you are going with somebody else who already has heroes, bringing a sin hero could be ok I would think. A good bar for a hero would be Way of the assassin, critical eye, jagged strike, fox fangs, and death blossom. This makes them attack fast, spam dagger attacks, and do alot of AoE. Works very nicely with Strength of Honor.

A/R Disrupting Accuracy works well.

An interesting thing I tried out the other day was a Discord assassin hero. With high critical strikes, zealous daggers and energy return attack skills, she always had enough energy that when the prerequisites were met she was able to Discord away. In the meantime she was dealing decent amounts of damage with attacks.

I didn't calculate how much damage she was doing, but it was fun and definitely seemed viable as a front-liner part of a discordway party.

13 Critical Strikes
10 Dagger Mastery
9 Shadow Arts
10 Death Magic

Discord
Golden Lotus Strike (damage, energy return)
Golden Fang Strike (condition for discord)
Critical strike (damage, critical, energy return)
Way of Perfection (healing)
Critical Eye (energy)
Critical Defences (blocking)

and one optional slot for a hex (to meet all the requirements for Discord), more healing (e.g. Shadow Refuge) or some other misc. skill.

A/D scythes work relatively well. I haven't had much experience because I use every hero except sins extensively, but A/D and A/R crit barrage is probably going to be your best bet.

A good reason the sin hero is left out because getting Vale and Zenmai is a pain in the rear compared to other heroes (cept Razah). Seeing how melee classes aren't used too much as heroes compared to N, Mo and others, it's going to be difficult to find a decent build.

Please let us know if you find something pretty good for sin heroes.

Hero sins arent so worth it, w/o the pve only skills other heroes are far more superior. The only thing that I use them for is to hold weapons, runes, and insignias that I may use or sell.

There's a handful of situations where a micro'd permaform tank is nice, albeit they won't be able to do that much longer.

god was a permaformed hero tank fun back in amatz basin (pre-nerf). Me and the other 2 hero sins tanked all three spots pretty well.

I honestly think sin heroes are useless only because they lack the ability to use PvE skills. That alone makes other heroes such as Necros more useful and viable.

^ that's pretty much it. Your best bet is to equip them with a Crit Barrage build in NM, and just not use them in HM. In HM, the hero wont do enough criticals to make them worthwhile.

Unfortunately, hero AI is terrible for assassin skills. MS/DB still doesn't work well, so you're pretty limited with them.

This would be a worthy contest. To see who can come up with a pro x2 sin hero build that can hang with HM dungeons. Id chip in on THAT pot....

Just recently got Zenmai. Was also wondering about a build for her.
A good safe method (for Survivors also) of getting Zenmai is one mentioned on Wiki. It does require a good party, good heroes and/or a MM are recommended. With the end boss, walk close enough to him to start the conversation between him and Zenmai, then flag yer party near him, then move yerself and Zenmai out of aggro range (Zenmai follows u, the party leader), and hope yer party manages.

With looking at the builds from the Assassin Henchman in Factions and some tips here, i think i came up with an acceptable build. Though i will prefer Melonni for more damage or Koss for more defense/durability.

Flashing Blades (elite)
Jagged Strike
Fox Fangs
Death Blossom
Critical Eye
Death's Charge (optional, thought it was fun)
Shadow Refuge
Way of Perfection

Way of Perfection works nice with Critical Eye.
I like builds for Heroes that also include energy management and self healing.
With having to put most to all points in Critical Strikes, Dagger Mastery and Shadow Arts i didnt choose a second professsion.

I'm not saying this is the most amazing Sin build but I have used it with success on my Monk enchanting them with SoH and GDW.

14 Dagger, 13 CS

Locust's Fury
Flurry
Symbolic Strike
Signet of Malice
Resurrection Signet
3 random signets here, all disabled

AI will keep Locust's Fury and Flurry up, which under melee buffs does a significant amount of DPS. Symbolic Strike charges very fast under Locust's Fury, does +60 damage, and the AI spams it on recharge pretty well.
